We are looking for an experienced mechanical fitter to join our growing Engineering Team.

As a qualified and experienced Fitter and Turner/Maintenance Fitter, you will have the opportunity to work as part of the team on state of the art, high volume processing equipment, creating a great career base for many further opportunities. Hazeldene’s is a leading Central Victorian food manufacturer, with a vertically integrated supply chain including world best technology.

This key role is responsible for assisting with preventative maintenance programmes to ensure the optimal performance of all plant and equipment throughout the site. It is also responsible for the quick assessment and resolution of operational or technical breakdowns to ensure minimal impact on production.

Position Description

  • Mechanical maintenance trade qualification – Engineering Certificate Level III
  • Strong working knowledge of Preventative Maintenance techniques
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics experience is desirable
  • MIG/TIG experience is desirable
  • Experience maintaining high volume food production plant and processing equipment would be advantageous.
  • MEX understanding is desirable
  • Flexibility as the position is on a 4 on 4 off roster with rotating Day and afternoon shifts

These are indicative accountabilities with the key objective of the role being to ensure Hazeldene’s has effective and state of the art HSE policies, processes and outcomes

  • Ensure a compliant OH&S framework relevant to the organisation and understood by all
  • Facilitate an effective OHS committee and associated processes
  • Develop, implement and maintain best in class Policies and Systems for safe working conditions for all areas of the company.
  • Provide managers and employees with advice relevant to OH&S and Food Safety Regulations
  • Undertake or co-ordinate investigation into accidents, incidents and unsafe working conditions and analyse causes and recommend and implement remedial action.
  • Facilitate training sessions to raise awareness of safe working practices

To succeed in this role you will have a very strong and clear understanding of HSE ideally in a production environment – preferably food manufacturing – with the ability to develop effective relationships, and champion safety throughout the organization

Position Description

Skills and experience:

  • At least 3+ years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment would be highly desirable
  • Sound understanding of the relevant legislative and regulatory framework
  • Strong work ethic and a passion for safety
  • Ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders and influence positive outcomes
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and strong computer and MS office skills

The Role:

Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Working within a team to complete routine services & repairs, fault diagnosis (auto electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic) and engine & transmission repairs
  • Working with your team on European, Japanese and American drive line trucks and a range of tractors, earthmoving equipment, generators, forklifts, and refrigerated transport vehicles.

About you:

  • Relevant trade qualifications combined with Mechanical aptitude
  • Awareness of the requirements of a vehicle maintenance workshop environment
