Hazeldenes will always support Foodshare because it’s the right thing to do for the community. We’re shocked and concerned by the stat that one in every five Aussie kids is going to school hungry every day.
Bendigo Foodshare is in ‘critical need’ of a warehouse fit out so it can continue to help more than 12,000 people across central Victoria with food relief each week.
Bendigo Foodshare have a vision for creating a community food hub that will include a social supermarket, pop up café, a cooking skills training area, and a food garden.
The space will be all inspiring and inclusive, where people can access fresh, healthy and cheap food.
Hazeldenes Chicken Farms have been a long-term food supporter of Bendigo Foodshare, ramping up donations of frozen chicken during COVID to support the increased demand.
Most recently John Hazeldene and Vicki announced they would be donating an incredible $500,000 towards the campaign.
John Hazeldene said, “Hazeldenes will always support Foodshare because it’s the right thing to do for the community. We’re shocked and concerned by the stat that one in every five Aussie kids is going to school hungry every day.”
Bendigo Foodshare is extremely excited by the donation, as it means they can now fit out their new home, which will double their capacity to provide more food relief support across Central Victoria.
Hazeldene’s have pledged $100,000 to Righteous Pups and we continue to support this fantastic cause by servicing their vehicles, maintaining their grounds, upgrading and maintaining their water supply requirements, and providing coats and leads for the dogs.
Hazeldene’s is a proud supporter of Righteous Pups. Based in Lockwood, Righteous Pups is a national charity, the first and only to place Autism Assistance Dogs with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders throughout Australia. Each dog costs approximately $29,000 to train and place over an 18-month to two-year period, at no cost to the recipient family. At the end of 2013 Righteous Pups Australia had permanently placed 35 Autism Assistance Dogs (AAD) throughout Australia and had seen many lives liberated and transformed.
Another primary focus involves working with at-risk, disenfranchised young people and young people with disabilities. These young people join the quest to transform the lives of children with autism and their families and in the process begin to heal and find a sense of meaning and purpose within their community. Each week more than 100 young people are involved at Righteous Pups and many young lives are changed – there is something special about working with dogs and feeling a sense of significance, purpose and community.
