FAQ

Where are free range chickens kept?

Hazeldene’s is one of only a few Free Range Accredited operations in Australia. Birds roam free of their sheds on fresh pasture before returning back into the sheds at night.

However, quality feed and water are available for chickens inside the shed, or they are free to forage outdoors in a secure area free from predators.

What do chickens eat?

Hazeldene’s quality chicken is raised on 'complete' feeds, because they are designed with a balance of protein, energy, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients for proper growth.

What is Low Scald?

Low 'Scald’ production produces a ‘natural’ looking bird and locks in the natural moisture of the bird and prevents excess water uptake, which creates a product that has good eating qualities. But most importantly, 'Low Scalding', produces a product with a distinctly enhanced flavour.

Are chickens grown using artificial growth hormones and steroids?

No! Hazeldene chickens rely only on the growth stimulants naturally occurring within the bird.

How soon should I cook a thawed chicken?

Immediately.

How long can I refrigerate chicken?

Fresh - As directed on the pack
Frozen – 6 to 9 months
