Heritage

Established in 1957, it’s now over half a century since Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm hatched and produced its first egg. Since that first egg the company has developed into one of Australia’s only truly fully integrated regional poultry processors.

With growth comes responsibility and Hazeldene’s is now one of the local areas biggest employers (500 +) and as a consequence of being the only major business in the Lockwood area, enjoys the support of the local community.

The heart of the business is located at Lockwood, approximately 15 kilometers from Bendigo, regional Victoria’s third largest city and is set on 1500 acres of land. To the unsuspecting eye, the wonderful natural bush land setting hides Hazeldene’s true scope, capability and size of the operation.

It is Hazeldene’s belief that their regional setting and processing allow them to produce a product of the highest quality. They have achieved ISO 9002 Accreditation, as well as being registered with and audited by the Primesafe and AQIS. In addition, Hazeldene's is independently audited to maintain Vendor Quality Control Standards for their major clients.

Since they are a family owned and operated company, they have a very flat management structure.

:: The day to day operation is now in the hands of their three adult children. Between them they have a combined 80 years experience in chicken farming.

John Hazeldene - Managing Director
Peter Hazeldene - Project Manager
Vicky Gaudion - General Manager - Farming

:: Founders, Dick Hazeldene and his wife Mavis have recently retired but still remain directors of the company.

They all work as a team, driven by the same objectives and of course an obsession to produce for the very best chicken on any table in the country.

:: Committed to Charity

Hazeldenes Chicken Farm is a strong supporter of many social and community services throughout Regional Victoria
and endeavours to adopt an equitable approach, within it's budget each year,
which focuses on supporting many local community groups.

Each year Hazeldene's contribute a considerable sum to its preferred beneficiary, the Bendigo Radiotherapy Foundation, which assists all Bendigo regional cancer sufferers to be able access the best treatment possible in Bendigo.
